richard johnson snaps colourful ice huts in the canadian wilderness
If you’re feeling chilly right about now – and we don’t blame you – we hope these icy snaps make you feel a little bit better that you’re not stuck on top of a frozen lake (but if you are, please get somewhere safe and stop reading!). Shot throughout the picturesque (and incredibly cold) Canadian wilderness, Richard Johnson was a shutterbug who captured hundreds of photos of huts throughout December and January filled with folks taking advantage of the ice-fishing season.
Richard, who passed away in 2021 and took these photos from 2007 to 2019, stated that he had always been “fascinated with small structures”, and depicts the individual personalities of each hut through his decades-long photo series. If you fancy a better look at his art, peep his website this-a-way.
