giveaway – the good gratitude journal
Plus, we chat to the brand’s founder about how this project came to be.
In today’s fast-paced world where we are inundated with countless polished Instagram feeds and an abundance of pore-less selfies (that the algorithm only seems to show us when we’re feeling our absolute crappiest), it’s far too easy to fall into the bad habit of comparing ourselves to our seemingly more successful peers and focusing on all the junk we don’t have. It’s something that The Good Gratitude owner Henrietta Amevor knows all too well.
If you’ve found yourself constantly going down the path of feeling not good enough don’t sweat it: we’ve got just the thing. Inspired by her own history of journaling, Henrietta created The Good Gratitude Journal to help remind folk of all the great stuff present in our daily lives.
We had a yarn with Henrietta about The Good Gratitude – which you can read below – but here’s the kicker: she’s letting us in on a rad giveaway where two lucky readers can score one journal each. The Good Gratitude is currently sold out and is chock-full of lovely affirmations, reflections and questions that are bound to soothe our nervy noggins.
To throw your hat into the ring simply follow The Good Gratitude on Instagram and then hop by our win page to tell us why gratitude is important to you. Good luck!
Hi Henrietta! Who are you and what do you do? I’m a stage and screen actor and you can catch me in the Stan series BUMP, I’m a recent International Relations and International and Global Studies graduate – mama I made it! – and now, founder of my new brand The Good Gratitude, also known as my first-born child.
What is The Good Gratitude and how did it come to be? The Good Gratitude is a brand that I’ve created to simply spread better in our world. Our mission is to shift us closer to an appreciation for what we have, rather than a fixation on what we lack. We do this through our gratitude journal, our Multiply The Good events and our online content.
Journaling has been a grounding practice for me for years, and I have noticed its significant impact on my mental health. So, one day in 2020, I decided that I’d like to build on the affirming words that I had written and share them with the world in the form of a journal. Sharing my words felt too vulnerable, imposter syndrome hit me hard and convinced me to not start. However, fast forward to 2023, The Good Gratitude Journal and brand were born!
Why is gratitude so important? As a society we’re always thinking ahead. We’re always thinking about what’s next, the next goal we want to achieve, the next bill that needs to be paid or the next task that needs to be completed. We’re also often thinking about the things we don’t have – clothes, relationships, money, you name it. However, rarely do we take the time to consistently consider the great things we do have, no matter how big or small.
Gratitude is important because it causes us to pause, to breathe and to remember that we are more blessed than we realise. It causes us to take a second to recognise and appreciate the big and small things happening around us, rather than fixating on what’s missing. Here at The Good Gratitude, our slogan is “start with intent, multiply the good.” To us, multiplying the good is all about counting all the good things around you.
What do you hope people get out of The Good Gratitude Journal? I hope it helps people to recognise all the goodness they have in their lives – both big and small. I hope that it leads their mindsets to one of abundance, joy and deep gratitude. I hope that our journal shows people that they have great purpose and worth and that they are more blessed than they realise.
You’ve also hosted events for The Good Gratitude like discussion panels and performances. What can we expect from your newest event, Multiply the Good: Better Together? Our Multiply the Good events are one of my favourite things about what we do here. I love meeting new people, connecting, having a good laugh and I get to do all those things at our events. The intention behind Multiply the Good is to bring community together to discuss topics related to gratitude with good music, good food and immaculate vibes.
At Multiply the Good: Better Together we’ll discuss what it truly means for us to be better together, and why it is important now more than ever. We want to have sowed a seed that encourages hope within community, and starts up inspiration for all their future endeavours. From this night, we want our guests to understand the power of collaboration, community support, unity, gratitude and multiplying the good. We want people to leave feeling blessed and grateful to be alive. I’m excited for this one.
Where do you see The Good Gratitude in the future? If you’re asking Henrietta the mother, I want The Good Gratitude to grow iconic with age and live a full life multiplying the good wherever she goes.
However, if you’re asking Henrietta the founder, I’d love to see this brand continue to touch lives all over Australia and around the world. I’d love to collaborate with events – possibly have Rihanna or Kendrick Lamar perform too? Either one will do, maybe I’ll just let them battle it out. Plus, I look forward to expanding our products beyond The Good Gratitude Journal.
