a few outfit ideas based on this year's biggest flicks
Bust out the popcorn and get ready to feel fancy – we've picked out some rad items based on 2024's best movies.
We don't know about you guys, but we reckon that 2024 has been a super-stellar year for cinema. Movies like Priscilla, Dune: Part Two, Inside Out 2, Poor Things and Challengers have been dominating the silver screen this year, so we decided to cook up this rad list of film-inspired fashion so you can dress up like your favourite characters. Peep all of our selections below.
PRISCILLA – We can safely say that out of all of the nepo babies out there, Sofia Coppola rises above them all as a bonafide powerhouse of filmmaking talent. Her most recent flick, Priscilla, follows the complicated and real-life love story of Elvis and Priscilla Presley and is draped in Sofia's signature feminine aesthetic, made obvious by the frilly, silky and lacey costumes worn by the film's main star, Cailee Spaeny. If you're wanting to dip your toes into the super-girly world that Sofia built, check out our outfit recommendations right here.
Coven and Co – Lace Bow Hairclips. ($20).
Princess Highway – Patent Ankle Boot in White. ($43.60).

DUNE: PART TWO – After watching this iconic science fiction franchise brought to life on the screen, we only have one underlying question: why aren't more modern movies featuring giant and monstrous sandworms? The outfits found in this sandy film highlight neutrals, which is why we picked out some ace items that would fit right at home amongst this desert landscape.
Lucinda Babi – Twist Tank in Chocolate. ($120).

POOR THINGS – If you want to dress like Emma Stone in the beautifully bonkers Yorgos Lanthimos-directed Poor Things, we recommend raiding your nan's closet and the most luxe thrift store out there. However, to make things a tad easier for you guys, we did the heavy lifting and found some rad wares that embody the same kind of Victorian chic you're after.

For Love and Lemons – Beate Ballet Flats. ($170).
Suboo – Gemma Lace Long Sleeve Maxi. ($369).
Lucienne Jewellery – Heart Key Necklace. ($150).

CHALLENGERS – Another flick starring the always fabulous Zendaya, this fast-paced sports romance drama is steamy, chaotic and features one of the best soundtracks (if not the best) of any film that came out this year – so give it a watch if you haven't already. This film calls for athletic garms and neat knits to replicate the preppy style of the film's characters, so spy our picks of lovely outfits that you could play an intense game of tennis in.
