timothea ridgewell - sweet florals
ART + ILLUSTRATION
Lara, VIC
The flowers are made from a sugar paste that means they’re technically edible, though they often have wires or polystyrene in them to help them stand up, so I don’t recommend it! For this arrangement, I wanted to try to capture the romanticism and ‘dreaminess’ of the old technique, but also modernise it by arranging the flowers in a contemporary way. The old trophy is worn with faded writing, but there’s an idea that there was a memory there – these flowers can last for years if kept properly, enduring but very fragile, like those memories.
