In February, 2022, Tara, our founder, decided to go for her first sunrise swim at her local beach, after she saw a friend post a photo of a sunrise swim. She filmed and posted a TikTok of herself running into the ocean at 5:45am, and bam! Sea Gals was born.
From that first TikTok, she accumulated thousands of views and had multiple women wanting to tag along for a sunrise swim. Sea Gals is now a safe space for all gals to swim with other likeminded people. We pride ourselves on inclusivity – we empower women (or anyone who identifies as a woman) from the ground up and advocate for women to feel comfortable in their own skin, and to come as they are – no need for make-up, shaving or washed hair.
In just over six months, we have seen a massive growth: we have 7.6k followers on Instagram, over 1,300 people in our Facebook group and almost 10k followers on TikTok. We have a Sea Gals group in Broome and will be expanding to NSW with a Newcastle Sea Gals and a Sydney Sea Gals.
