sui park’s recycled cable-tie sculptures

By

For those of us less skilled in the art of home DIY, there is nothing more life-saving than a cable tie. Wonky gate latch? Cable tie. Broken hook? Cable tie. Rotting floorboards? Okay, maybe that’s one thing a cable tie can’t do. But what we didn’t know it could do was be used to create sculptures. That’s right, humble plastic strips become awe-inspiring designs, all thanks to the wondrous mind of Sui Park.

Born in Korea and now based in New York, Sui Park creates 3-dimensional, geometric work that’s both soothing to the eye and fascinating to view. Inspired by nature, she uses disposable objects as source material to allow them to be transformed into something permanent and beautiful. We’ll never take cable ties for granted again.
