peep these fancy pigeon portraits

There’s a lot of beauty to be found in our cities. There are the super-tall skyscrapers, fab outfits worn by its’ many fashionable denizens, cute shop fronts and so much more. Still, we often forget to see the beauty standing right in front of us and picking up crumbs on every block corner: the humble pigeon. Found in pretty much every urban area across the globe, pigeons are often overlooked and mostly seen as pests, even though they might be the first animals we ever domesticated. Hence, Brendan Burden decided to treat some of these birdies to a glamour photoshoot (which they all deserve, we reckon).

The Ottawa-based shutterbug was inspired to create ‘Fancy Pigeons’ after seeing the unique plumage of the Jacobin pigeon, “I had no idea pigeons could look this way and started doing some research and came to find out that there is a wide variety of pigeons, wild and domestic, many of which are quite beautiful”, he says. If you’re like us and think our faithful city companions deserve a bit more love, then visit Brendan’s website to see even more of his rad photography.
