max siedentopf’s mundane machines

Many have pondered the possibility of robots becoming sentient – typically these are earnest, dystopian musings like Black Mirror. What if it wasn’t just robots but everyday objects, and what if it was… kinda funny? These are the unique musings of Max Siedentopf, the multi-disciplinary conceptual artist and winner of “Most Bizarre Video” at the Berlin Music Video Awards.

Max’s series, Mundane Machines, presents everyday objects – including a hamburger and a washing machine – coming to life like Transformers, using wit, creativity and a hell of a lot of cardboard. We love the playfulness Max has introduced to this topic (and his playfulness more generally: the cursor on his website is a fish) and can’t help but wonder, if a pack of Marlboros came to life, what would it say?
