I’m a multidisciplinary designer and artist focused on creating vibrant, bold and energetic graphics across surface pattern design, mixed media, collage and digital design.
Enveloping is a surface pattern design created with a mixed media approach. With analogue collages created mainly using the patterns from the inside of vintage paper envelopes, the original collage was digitally coloured and photoshopped together to make a perfectly repeating pattern. Vector shapes were also created, and masked over the collage creating an ‘enveloped’, layered garden pattern.
These paper patterns hold nostalgic appeal – with a father who is an avid postage stamp collector, our house growing up was filled with stamps cut from envelopes, and wonderful pattern surprises hidden behind the stamp.
