The Lonely Little Cactus is a children’s picture storybook about an endearing cactus that feels lonely living in the desert. Through a series of colourful interactions with desert dwellers, the little cactus learns strategies to cope with feelings of loneliness. The book is both entertaining and educational, and is aimed at young children. The underlying message of the book is that loneliness is a common and normal emotion that can be overcome. Also, coping styles are unique to the individual person. This is a text-based submission with sample images provided by the talented artist and illustrator Madeleine Griffith.
