johanna wilbraham - the 100 day project
ART + ILLUSTRATION
Theodore, ACT
For The 100 Day Project, I challenged myself to paint 100 portraits in 100 consecutive days. A new full portrait was completed each day and posted on social media. Usually a large-scale oil painter, I challenged myself to work small-scale and learn a new medium. These portraits are ink on board with collaged areas of genuine vintage wallpaper from the 1960s and ’70s. In the project, I was keen to further explore the female gaze and challenge traditional representations of women – producing vintage-inspired illustrative works that blur the line of representation and abstraction.
