inga topolnicki – an existence project

An Existence Project is a short, stop-motion animation about what it’s like to live with the neuroimmune illness myalgic encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome). When I was first diagnosed, the only resources I could find about the condition were impersonal lists of symptoms.

I decided to make a film so there would be something more accessible that people could show their friends and family, to help communicate the complex aspects of living with this chronic illness. Since its release in April, the film has been used in several advocacy campaigns around the world and now has subtitles in 11 different languages.
