‘Friendship Camp’ is a handmade collage series using found images from vintage books and old scrapbook paper to explore the theme of friendship within the context of a planned school camp program environment. My firsthand (and admittedly limited) childhood camping memories have become further embellished by secondhand memories taken from watching American depictions of summer camp, in films such as Addams Family Values and The Parent Trap.
My intention is to capture memory of excitement and warmth from spending time with new and old friends, campfires, snacks, outdoor adventures and craft activities, through cut and reassembled nostalgic ’60s and ’70s imagery.
