four next-level ways to experience the ocean this summer
One of the best things about summer is spending all your time on, in or near the water. Being surrounded by water is calming and relaxing (hello, bath time) but there’s something about the ocean that makes it even more special. It’s beautiful and mysterious and can be the perfect backdrop for some summer fun. Here are four ways to live your best ocean life this summer.
TAKE A CRUISE IN THE SOUTH PACIFIC Its kind of wild that you can leave Australia on a Carnival ship and literally cruise around the ocean while bar-hopping until you arrive at a beautiful island paradise in the South Pacific. It feels very romantic and magical, especially when we’re so used to traveling by plane. Imagine waking up on a boat in the crystal blue waters of Isle of Pines in New Caledonia or Suva in Fiji. You’ll have constant water views, but if that’s not enough you can scuba dive, swim, and frolic around at the beach when the cruise ship docks. Plus, have you ever had a spa or a facial on the ocean? It’s possible in the Cloud 9 Spa.
CHILL ON AN INFLATABLE DOCK Hanging out in the ocean with your pals is already a 10 out of 10, but sometimes you do need to warm up and vacate the water briefly. No need to head back to the sandy dunes to read your book or magazine though! You can buy amazing inflatable docks that are essentially a lovely pontoon for you and your mates in the ocean. It goes without saying to make sure you pack it up once you’re done though.
SWIM WITH DOLPHINS You’re an adult now – it’s possible for you to live out your inner 8-year-old’s dream of swimming with dolphins. They’re pretty fun and playful animals, which can make for the most entertaining swim of your life. You can feel like you’re part of the dolphin pod (without getting too close obviously, they are wild animals after all).
TRAIN FOR AN OCEAN SWIM This one is less relaxing than the others, but if you’re competitive or just want to challenge yourself, it’s a unique way to experience the ocean. Sure, you may be kicked in the arm by other swimmers unintentionally and swallow more than your fair share of seawater, but crossing the finish line makes it all worth it. Plus, you usually get a free t-shirt so you can show off to others throughout the year just how much of an ocean baddie you are.
