I’m a printmaker and glass artist. Labour of Love was made around a personal understanding of the weight of undervalued care work that women carry. A plate, a commonplace object and material of the domestic sphere, is overlooked; seen through.
The broad palette of colour used in the piece speaks to diversity of experience. Black glass powder that could be mistaken for household dust was swept through a silk-screen. The figures stand in for the countless women spanning over a countless amount time who have used their creativity and emotional strength to care for others.
