“I am a shoemaker who loves sneakers! A handmade sneaker is a rare and coveted item, and my intention as a craftsperson has always been to elevate the sneaker from a mass-produced fashion trend to that of the handcrafted and precious. There are very few makers of original handmade sneakers in the world, but I see no reason why traditional techniques can’t be used to produce a sleekly futuristic feel. Highland Hightops is both a reference to my father’s ancestry and my love of tartan, represented here in panels salvaged from school pencil cases.”
