The objective of In Conversation was to push myself to think conceptually and let go of functionality. It was intended to be a pure expression of my making process, using clay and the process as a form of meditation. The surface treatment was very gestural in some cases and quite restrained in others, reflecting my state of being at the time. The pieces work together cohesively, but also hold up as single objects.
