This image of Bethany and Joel Penman with their dogs Peggy Sue and Moose is part of Rented Space – a project founded by myself and partner Amelia Barnes. Rented Space documents creatively styled rental properties that prove a temporary space, tight budget or strict tenancy agreement aren’t barriers to forming an inviting home.
With the proportion of Australian renters rising, we saw this as a substantial yet often overlooked sector of the property market, which also lent itself well to photography and storytelling.
