I’m a writer, dreamer and aspiring novelist, currently studying creative writing at RMIT. I wrote this article on a gloomy night, when memories of darker times left me feeling breathless. Growing up with depression and crippling body dysmorphia, I've had quite the time trying to keep self-love close. The piece, more personal essay than article, is a reflection on my growth as a person, a body and a soul. It deals with the toxic idea of 'thinspiration' and the media's effect on my eating disorder. It also touches on the misperception of bodies and body neutrality.
