My name is Claire and I like to take photos. I found my camera at the dump for two dollars. I carry it with me everywhere and shoot photos of my friends, my favourite places and things I find interesting.

I was volunteering at a caravan park in Lake Conjola over New Years. I probably shouldn’t have gone given the bushfires nearby, but I figured if the Princess Highway was open, I could get there. The sky turned black and for a second the smoke plumes looked like rain clouds. Within and hour, we were told to evacuate to the beach. I grabbed my camera, some water and a jacket, preparing for the rest of my belongings to set alight. I took these photos while stranded on the beach, and after the fire had finished ripping through the streets.
