I'm a high-school teacher by day; by night, I'm everything else. ‘Standing Still’ is part of a longer fiction novel called Daughter. It is based on one of the main characters, Nanette, and the death of her partner, Eamon. As part of the longer story, Eamon's death becomes Nanette's wound that needs to be healed.

I wrote this piece when our writing group was challenged to write something that could be read aloud in under three minutes. I took inspiration from U2's song “Running to Stand Still”.
