bree hankinson, sarah hankinson and belinda galloway - the windsor workshop
SMALL BUSINESS
Melbourne, VIC
We’re an art, craft and design workshop and event space working with artists, makers, movers and shakers who are Melbourne locals, interstate sensations and overseas art world celebs. Alongside them, we teach traditional artforms with a contemporary twist.
The Windsor Workshop started as a creative co-working space run by sisters Bree and Sarah Hankinson of Santiago Sunbird. With the creative juices well and truly flowing, we expanded about three years ago into a workshop and event space, with Belinda Galloway joining us. We run a series of unique and ridiculously fun workshops from ceramics to leather, painting to gin, embroidery to upcycled BEERrings (earrings made out of beer cans), plus loads more.
We’re honoured and proud to provide a social gathering for people to slow down, team up and get making. During a workshop, as well as the craft experience, our participants are treated to delicious snacks, a glass of bubbles or two, music to match the workshop, a shedload of banter, and a whole lot of laughs. A workshop with us has been described as “the craft version of a spa day”.
Since starting, we’ve had about 1350 participants take a workshop with us, many of them coming back three or four times, and we’ve had people fly over from Perth, Queensland and Singapore to take part in a class. We’ve had artists come from Turkey, New Zealand and USA to teach workshops.
