Romance is my first photographic series. Inspired by Elvis and Pricilla’s wedding, with just a hint of Liberace, it features meticulously arranged flowers by Ross Jenkins and glitter backdrops in shocking red, pink and blue.
I spent my childhood wandering the aisles of my family's video store and developed an affinity with The Wizard of Oz, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and anything else unapologetically camp and hauntingly beautiful. All of these references are evident in Romance – you might even hear Liberace’s piano tinkling in a distant room. My goal was to capture the sweet sadness of nostalgia and the feeling of a moment gone but forever etched in glitter.
